The Ward 2 meeting for the Community Development Building Grant (CDBG) 2008 grant application was held Thursday July 31st, evening and had about 18 in attendence, including Ward 2 Alderman Olen Thomas, and Alderwoman Linda Robinson. The meeting was run by Mary Beth Bowman with the intent to hold public forums on the distribution of the approximately $790,000 that will be given to the City in 2009.

- $85,000 was given in 2007 to each ward for drainage and street improvements, the rest is distributed to projects around the city.
- NLR Boys and Girls Club and Carelink have each already requested money.
- The Dixie CDC requested money for improvements to their community center and an accompanying building.
- Alderwoman Robinson encouraged all groups involving senior citizens or youth groups to apply for CDBG money.
