Ward III & IV CDBG Meeting Summary |

The Ward III and IV Community Development Building Grant (CDBG) 2009 public forum was held Monday, Aug. 4th. There were around three dozen attendees including Aldermen Cary Gaines and John Parker representing Ward III, Aldermen Murry Witcher and Charlie Hight from Ward IV, and Dan Scott, NLR Director of City Neighborhood Services. The public forum was directed by Mary Beth Bowman
to discuss the distribution of the
approximately $790,000 that will be given to the City in 2009 from the CDBG program.

After a discussion of how the City handed out the money in the past as
well as the recent cut backs in the general city budget for resurfacing
and sidewalk projects, the following requests were made for the CDBG
money.
- Sidewalk additions to W. 47th St from Pike Ave. to Lynn Ln.
- The PAL program in Levy requested funds for capital improvements to the North Heights Ballpark
- A request was made for funds to create a playground facility at the North Heights Recreation Center
- The Recovery Center of Arkansas requested funds to tear down 2 houses at 207 & 215 Park Dr.
- Money was requested for improvements at 49th and Parker
- Carelink reiterated their request for funds for thier new facility and to continue improving their meals on wheels program
This was the final public forum for the CDBG program, however you can
still submit proposals. The deadline to submit is August 15th at 4 PM.
After that, remember to keep an eye on City Hall and see how they decide
to spend the money.
