NLR Girl Wins National Grant |

Katya Lyzhina, 2008 graduate of NLR West High School is one of
20 national recipients of a STOP Hunger Grant of $1000 from the Sodexho
Foundation. These grants are open to students ages 6 to 18 who are enrolled
in an accredited educational institution in the United States. They must
have demonstrated an on-going commitment to their community by performing
volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States at least within the
last 12 months. Winners may select the hunger-related non-profit of their
choice to receive the grant. Lyzhina chose the Arkansas Rice Depot where she
has volunteered over the past eight years.

Debbie Hoofman of Park Hill was appointed to the Keep
Arkansas Beautiful Commission by Governor Beebe for a term expiring Jan. 14, 2014,
replacing Bill Scruggs. Hoofman is the wife of former state Sen. Cliff
Hoofman (D) and current Highway Comissioner appointed by Governor Beebe.

Allen Hamby, president of the
state lodge of the Arkansas Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), announced
Wednesday that Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay has been selected to receive
the 2008 Outstanding Sheriff Award.
The award is given by the Arkansas
State Fraternal Order of Police.
Sheriff Holladay was nominated
by Pulaski County FOP Lodge #27 for his dedication to the members of the
Sheriff’s Office, members of the Pulaski County Lodge and Pulaski County
citizens.

ACHIEVEMENT POLICY
Dogtown Wire publishes special achievement announcements with a picture, although a picture is not required for publication. Typical special achievements can include: Eagle or Gold Scout, Promotions, Election as an officer in a trade group or society. Dogtown Wire reserves the right to publish or not publish any achievement. There must be some connection to North Little Rock for publication. The person must live or have grown up in North Little Rock. There is no charge for publishing an achievement announcement. The announcement must be submitted in Microsoft Word format limited to 150 words or less with a picture in a jpeg format no larger than 1 Mb. Only one picture per announcement will be published. Pictures should be a close up of the person to be recognized, only. The announcements may be edited for brevity, clarity and or grammar. Announcements will only be accepted electronically by e-mail to
