Everybody Takes Lumps In Gridiron Show PDF Print E-mail
Written by Eric Francis, Contributing Writer
Friday, 15 August 2008
When the singing, dancing, skewering lawyers of central Arkansas take the stage for the Gridiron Show, nobody's cows are sacred. And this year, Argenta got to take its lumps, too.

The Arkansas Bar Association's biennial benefit is running through Saturday night at The Rep in Little Rock, and while the names may have changed the end is the same: Satire and sarcasm, with a liberal dose of puns, all meant to take the high and mighty down a notch and cause the audience to cough up more than a few laughs in the process.

KATV Arkansan of The Week PDF Print E-mail
Written by Clay Miller
Sunday, 10 August 2008
Lonnie Gibbons, a former television broadcaster here in Central Arkansas was named KATV Arkansan of the week last week. That makes two North Little Rock KATV Arkansans of the Week in the past month. He was selected for his work with the Cancer Fighters Support Group, which meets the first Monday of every month at the Park Hill Baptist Church. While it doesn't come through very well on the KATV web site post without the video, the group is very welcoming and interested in caring for all cancer sufferers. I used to do research in cancer research and I know just how much of an impact cancer can have on people, so it's important to reach out to the community of cancer sufferers. For more information about the group, you can call Park Hill Baptist Church Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at  501-753-3413

Read the KTHV story here. Unfortunately, the video link does not appear to work, but the story is still there.

Ride the "Pineapple Express" Straight to the Funny Bone PDF Print E-mail
Written by Movie Maniac
Friday, 08 August 2008

From the crazy and fertile mind of Seth Rogen comes “Pineapple Express”. This is another film to come out of the comedic film factory run by the prolific Judd Apatow. Rogen, who co-wrote and stars, has actually created a new genre of film, the druggie action flick. Seth Rogen plays Dale Denton, a mild-mannered process server. He smokes lots of dope which accounts for his seemingly placid demeanor.

Denton visits his dealer (nice comedic turn by James Franco) Saul Silver. Silver sells Denton some potent marijuana called pineapple express. While going to serve a subpoena on Ted Jones (Gary Cole) Denton witnesses Jones execute an Asian gentleman, who was sent by an Asian gang to take Jones out of the drug trade.

Project Runway- Local Connections PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dogtown Staff
Thursday, 07 August 2008
This from Rhonda Reeves a NLR resident over at CanvasJunkie.com about a local designer on the TV show Project Runway which aired episode 4 last night.

At the beginning I thought .....What's up........ Korto is a focal point from the start of this episode and it just continued.   The new challange...... design a women's  outfit US athletes for opening ceremony of the Olympics.  Korto chose super lite weight leather and linen.  Her design is sophiscated, sleek modern.  Wooo Hooo! I'm betting on Korto as the winner of this challange!!!  Yesssssssssss!!!! Way to go Girl!!!  Korto is the winner of this challange!

For those who have not heard of Korto, she is a local designer, who is currently on Project Runway.  Korto has been featured in almost every local magazine and newspaper  in Arkansas.  A Mabelvale resident for about 8 years, Korto has  designed fashions and produced some of the most professional New York style fashion shows here in the past few years.  If you shop the artsy boutiques in the Hillcrest area you've probably seen her designs and if your fashion conscious and love a hip fresh style maybe you have one of her designs hanging in your closet.
