More than 100 people gathered in the main gallery of the Thea Foundation
building at Fourth and Main streets for its official dedication on Thursday evening.
|
|
It was warmer inside than it was
outside Thursday evening at the Thea Foundation ‘s Argenta headquarters, but
people were sweating with a smile as they celebrated the official dedication of
the foundation’s new home.
With an inadequate air
conditioning unit straining to tame the heat generated by more than 100 people
gathered in the big, open space at Fourth and Main streets, foundation
co-founders Paul and Linda Leopoulos welcomed guests and spoke of what the
nonprofit arts education group has accomplished, as well as what they still
hope to do.

If you haven’t found it yet, the website, Double Dollar
Deals, is offering just that – to double the value of your harder to earn
dollars.
While some participating businesses have sold out their online
coupons, you can still treat a friend to a golf game or a meal. Remember, you
don’t have to tell them you got a deal, you can simply bask in the glow of their
thanks and statement that “you’re the best.”
Close to home are some meal deals.

Okay, here’s the question. Would you rather spend $199 or
$299 for those sexy new high heels you saw at your favorite shoe store, or, on
a boot camp to make you look sexier in your older but still functional high
heels?
If you lean towards that fashion foursome – Carrie, Miranda,
Charlotte, and Samantha (come on guys, some of you know these HBO stars) – you know
the way to the store and which credit card still has wiggle room for the
purchase.
But, if you chose to boot up the bod, head over to the North
Little Rock Adventure Boot Camp website to explore how Roy L. Brooks Jr.
intends to make you a lean, mean, fitness machine.
And, if the men out there want to turn a few heads there is
a men’s only 3- or 5-day boot camp starting July 14.

I am happy to report that there
are more laughs than just those on this movie’s trailer . This movie revolves
around the exploits of a super Israeli Mossad agent.
He is able to catch bullets and
beat up everyone in sight, but he is unhappy with his lot in life. He longs to
move to America and become, wait a beat, a HAIRSTYLIST.
Adam Sandler is an actor that I
have always had an ambivalent attitude about even if he is an obviously
talented actor and comedian. Some of his stuff on Saturday Night Live had me
laughing uproariously, while other times I was scratching my head trying to
figure everything out.

There have been reports of
beavers in neighborhood streams and walking up NLR Broadway during morning rush
hour. Now the latest report is nutrias in neighborhoods close to the Arkansas
River. Aquatic animals are having a very hard time finding a habitat that is
safe and plentiful.
The Arkansas River is traveling
faster than ever in recorded history according to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers. High water has overflowed marshes, swamps and other areas these
animals normally call home. So these sightings will be more likely until the
waters recede and the animals to return home. Beavers and nutrias both built
their homes in banks of wetland areas and have to have a space above the
waterline.
So here is a little information
on these water critters.
