policefire.jpgTomorrow is the Badges and Hoses Blood Drive and the city’s police and fire team have their marching aortas---err, orders to show the Little Rock team they are a mere drip in comparison.

In that vein it’s time to go with the flow, it is time for North Little Rock types to roll up their sleeves and get pumped up to pump those little squeezy balls the nice nurses give you to stick it to the south side.

With Chief Danny Bradley putting (get it---to putt) up his dignity to become Little Rock Police Chief Stuart caddy for a gold game, we can’t have Bradley become a version of Bill Murry from Caddy Shack.

time.jpgJim Woodell said Tuesday by phone that the appeal that needs to go before City Council to run a homeless day resource center at 1201 E. Washington Ave. in River City Ministry is over.

“I’ll tell you where I’ve wound up on this, is that it’s kind of like pushing a car up a hill with a rope,” said Woodell in a slow, tired sounding measured voice. “I decided that we are not going to push, or pull, or do anything more to try to get on an agenda or to be a day resource center.”

Woodell came to this decision after having four council members come to the open house River City Ministry held June 5 to allow city officials and the public to visit the facility and ask questions.

He said three aldermen gave him an assurance of their support, but though he hadn’t talked directly to her, he thought that Ward 1 Alderwoman Debi Ross was against it. Without out at least half of the council supporting it, Woodell said he felt the fight was over.

Rose City resident Dolly Faux and her husband Walt moved to her house 41/2 years ago, first renting the house from their landlord to “to see if we liked the neighborhood.”

“It was an excellent neighborhood when we moved in,” Faux said

They bought it from the Fayetteville-based landlord shortly after that because it had become a “hassle” for him to maintain the house being so far away, she said.

Faux sat in her kitchen chair in a small house Monday, the oxygen machine she needs now tucked in the living room, describing the neighbors that once lived next to her in Rose City.
