Opening the lines of communication--that's what the North Little
Rock Police Department is hoping to do with the local Hispanic
community. As that population continues to grow, police officers hope a series of
informational meetings will offer understanding and comfort to all who
live in North Little Rock.

The Little Rock Zoo is offering free admission for kids 12 and under from now until September 1st. Normal kids admission price is $6.00 per kid. Adult admission is $8.00 per person. The Zoo is a great day adventure for kids. Go, see the new rhinocerous and have fun.

As reported in the Dem/Gaz on Page 6B in the July 22nd newspaper, two men were shot near an alley on 29th Street in Baring Cross early Sunday morning. One man was shot in back and taken to Baptist NLR and the other was grazed by a bullet in the head. Both men told the police they were shot by two balck men with long barrelled guns. |

This just in from Tina Worrell at the NLR Parks & Rec Dept.
The Heat Relief Center (HRC) will be open today. The National Weather Service has predicted a temperature of 100 degrees F. HRC will be at the North Little Rock Community Center, 2700 Willow Street from noon to 6 p.m.

Four lady counterfeiters were arrested last Thursday afer passing nearly $4000 worth of bad bills at the Target on McCain. Click here for the story on Channel 7 news and look carefully at the pictures. If you have done business with these four ladies, you may want to check your wallet or cash register for bad bills.

The City is apparently been talking to a party interested in buying the old Baptist Hospital property on the hill next to the VA Hospital according Mayor Hays at the Baring Cross Neighbohood meeting Monday night. According to the Mayor the buyer would demolish the old buildings and then redevelop the site for residential uses. Apparently the talks are fairly far along, as the Mayor said there would soon be something before the City Council on this property.
